WHAT: The Utah Transit Authority, Provo City, BYU, and area transportation partners will celebrate the opening of the new BYU Central Campus Station on the Utah Valley Express (UVX) bus rapid transit line. The new station enhances access to Brigham Young University and strengthens UVX’s role as a vital connection between Utah Valley University, BYU, and the FrontRunner commuter rail system. Since launching in 2018, UVX has been UTA’s most ridden bus line, providing fast and frequent service across Orem and Provo and helping reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality and support sustainable growth throughout Utah County.
As Utah’s first bus rapid transit line, UVX delivers many of the benefits of light rail — dedicated lanes, frequent service, and high-quality stations — at a fraction of the construction cost. UVX has carried millions of riders since opening and has been recognized as a national model for cost-effective, community-focused transit investment. The success of UVX has led to the construction of the Ogden Express (OGX), which began service in 2023, and the Midvalley Express (MVX) in central Salt Lake County, which will begin service April 2026. The new BYU Central Campus Station, located in the heart of the BYU campus, represents another step forward in connecting residents, students, and visitors to education, employment, and opportunity across Utah Valley and the Wasatch Front.
