UTA Moves, UTA’s 30-year Strategic Long-Range Transit Plan, is shaped through collaboration with our partners and communities and sets the stage for transforming public transit across the Wasatch Front over the next 30 years. The UTA Moves process is focused on enhancing mobility and accessibility for everyone, ensuring our services become more frequent, reliable, and effective. Updated every 4 years, UTA Moves provides a vision for the future and will guide priorities around public transportation.
Initially established in 2023 for the 2050 timeframe, UTA Moves is now being updated to the 2027–2055 timeframe. UTA Moves 2055 will include:
- Updates to the 2050 plan incorporating cost analysis; local and regional models; project phasing and prioritization on the 5-, 10-, 20-, and 30-year timeframes; and future corridor preservation needs.
- New to the 2055 planning process is a cost-effectiveness study and cost–benefit analysis. We will also identify UTA facility needs associated with prioritized projects.
Get Involved
Whether you ride transit every day, sometimes, or not at all, your input will help identify which previous priorities remain important, where new needs have emerged, and what UTA should focus on in the years ahead. Click here to view the Public Involvement Plan for this effort – how UTA will engage with communities to update and develop the 2055 plan.
In this first round of engagement, from October 15-November 30, UTA is reviewing the recommendations put forth in the previous plan, UTA Moves 2050, and asking for your input on what has changed since that plan was adopted and what you think of the proposed new plan.
Comment on the Map
First, visit the comment map here, review what is currently planned, and tell us your thoughts on what is proposed. Which improvements remain most important today? What gaps exist that should be considered in UTA Moves 2055?
Take the Survey
After you’ve shared your thoughts on the 2055 vision, take the Utah Statewide Transit & Human Services Transportation Survey.
This year, UTA is partnering with the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) and Utah's Urban Rural Specialized Transit Association (URSTA) to study public transportation across the state. The statewide study focuses on developing strategies better aligned with the unique transit needs of communities across Utah. The input you provide in the survey will be shared with UTA, UDOT and URSTA to help inform transit and transportation plans and decisions around the state, including how UTA develops the UTA Moves 2055 Plan.
